Life Legacy

Denise L. Thompson Smith--66, A resident of Medford for over 20 years, formerly of Arlington and Philidelphia, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer on June 30, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

Denise was the beloved wife of The Honorable Herman J. Smith Jr. and the loving daughter of David Thompson and Miriam (Lewis) Ward. Denise was the stepdaughter of John Ward of PA and the stepsister of David Thompson of IL. Denise is also survived by many dear friends and colleagues.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a committal at Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Road, Medford Saturday morning July 10, 2010 at 10:00 am followed by a Worship Service to The Glory of God in memory of Denise at Park Street Church, 1 Park Street, Boston, MA at 2:00 p.m., where she was an active member of the Church Choir.

Denise was a 1965 graduate of Holyoke College. Denises lifelong career included work as a Project Manager for The Forum Corp. in Boston as well as Managing Editor for Houghton Mifflin and Editor of Harvard University Press.
